Support NMAAM: Keep the Music Alive!

As the year comes to a close, we want to be clear about one thing:

When you invest in the National Museum of African American Music, you are not supporting a single program or moment. You are ensuring that African American music and the history, context, and innovation behind it is preserved, taught, and shared accurately for generations to come.

As our final End-of-Year appeal, we invite you to consider one of the following ways to invest before December 31:

$2,500 — Preserve musical legacies and grow our collections

Supports preservation efforts like the Roots Theater and gallery collections, where performances, stories, and musical context are documented and safeguarded for future generations.

$1,000 — Inspire communities through outreach initiatives

Helps extend NMAAM’s reach through community-based initiatives such as Soundtrack for All and free-access days that connect families, students, and neighborhoods to African-American music.

$500 — Electrify audiences with live performances

Supports live programming like Front Row at NMAAM and artist-led experiences that bring music history into the present through performance.

$250 — Unveil captivating special exhibits

Contributes to the development of rotating and special exhibitions that explore artists, genres, and moments shaping African-American music.

$100 — Power cutting-edge digital experiences

Helps power digital experiences, including online learning tools and virtual content, expanding access to NMAAM’s work beyond our walls.

$50 — Amplify education with dynamic music programs

Supports education programs that serve students and educators through culturally grounded music learning experiences.

$25 — Ignite discovery through interactive exhibits

Helps maintain interactive exhibit elements that invite curiosity, exploration, and first-time discovery for visitors of all ages.

Why This Matters Right Now

To sustain this work, NMAAM must raise nearly half of its annual operating budget through private philanthropic support. Your year-end gift directly ensures that:

  • Artists are supported beyond performance alone
  • Students and educators can access music education without cost being a barrier
  • Music history is preserved with accuracy, not assumption
  • African-American music is stewarded as a foundational force in American culture

If you have not yet made your End-of-Year contribution, we invite you to do so today.

Thank you for helping ensure that the music, stories, and innovation that shaped this country remain whole and understood.
