Tailored for K-12 students and their teachers, these programs include interactive workshops, guided tours, and curriculum-aligned resources emphasizing African American musicians’ historical impact. School programs are offered both on-site at the museum and off-site at participating schools located throughout the Middle Tennessee Area.
An interactive workshop series for K–8 students that delves into early African American musical innovations. Utilizing digital curricula, students explore how everyday household items were transformed into musical instruments, enhancing their creative and analytical skills.

Led by industry professionals and trained facilitators, these sessions provide hands-on learning experiences in areas such as songwriting, music production, and performance techniques, fostering creativity and skill development.
A dynamic youth program designed to expand out-of-school learning opportunities for students in grades 6–12 from underserved communities in Nashville and surrounding counties during school breaks. Through immersive experiences in music, culture, and creative expression, students explore the rich legacy of African American music and its ongoing influence on society.
