Heartbeat Saturday is back at NMAAM — and this month, we’re getting Nashville’s students ready to start the school year strong!

Join us Saturday, August 22, for a special Heartbeat Saturday featuring The Write Stuff, a back-to-school experience created by The Last Friday, Freedom Friday, and Just DAP to provide students with the supplies and everyday essentials they need while bringing excitement back to learning, meeting new friends, exploring new interests, and discovering what’s possible.⁠

Our goal is to welcome and support at least 50 Metro Nashville Public Schools students for a day filled with community, creativity, and fun — right here at the National Museum of African American Music.⁠

MNPS families can expect school supplies, hygiene products, everyday essentials, games, food, FREE museum access, a museum scavenger hunt, prizes and more.

Heartbeat Saturday is about more than what happens inside our galleries. It’s about creating opportunities for our community to connect, learn and experience the power of music and culture together.⁠

Through The Write Stuff, we’re reminding our young people that school matters, learning matters, their creativity matters — and there’s an entire community behind them as they begin a new year.
