Lobby Case

PJ Morton

As our 2026 Black Music Month Grand Marshal, NMAAM chose to recognize and showcase soul singer, songwriter, performer, and producer PJ Morton’s outstanding career through an immersive lobby exhibition. The Louisiana native is a 6-time GRAMMY winner and 22-time nominee. He also earned accolades from BET, Soul Train, and NAACP. Within eight display cases, the exhibit explores 7 themes (family, adolescence, solo recognition, Young Money, Gumbo Unplugged, Maroon 5, and GRAMMY accolades) beginning with his developmental stages in New Orleans to the release of his most recent project Saturday Night/Sunday Morning.

The grand opening of this exhibition took place during the release party for PJ Morton’s Saturday Night/ Sunday Morning double album, which came out at midnight on Juneteenth of 2026, following the NMAAM-hosted event.
