NMAAM Membership & Admissions Updates:
Beginning March 31, 2025, NMAAM will implement changes to museum hours, ticket pricing, membership structure and parking rates. These updates support our long-term sustainability and ability to deliver exceptional experiences that celebrate the central role African Americans play in shaping the American soundtrack.
Museum Hours & Admission:
Why are museum hours changing?
Our updated schedule aligns with peak visitation days and allows us to operate more efficiently while continuing to provide impactful experiences.
Mon: Closed
Tues-Sat: 10am – 5pm
Sun: 12 – 5pm
Why is admission increasing?
Beginning April 1, 2025, general admission will be $35.00, which reflects our investment in:
- World-class exhibitions
- Immersive technology
- Enhanced visitor experiences
- RFID wristbands now included with every paid admission
RFID Interactive Experience: Each wristband allows visitors to create a custom playlist as they explore the galleries, an interactive experience unique to NMAAM. The same wristband can be used at each visit to add more memories.
What options exist for families and groups concerned about cost?
We understand this change may be significant for families or groups. To ensure continued access, we will still offer:
- Free admission days throughout the year
- In-person discounts for seniors, students, educators, military, and youth ages 5-17
- Free admission for children under 5
- Family membership options ($125) that provide value for frequent visitors
MEMBERSHIP CHANGES
What is changing with memberships?
We are introducing a contributions-based membership model. Instead of choosing a tier by paying a fixed amount, your membership level will now reflect your total annual giving. You can still choose a Classic Membership, or you may find that your giving qualifies you for a Contributing Club or Legacy Society—each with enhanced benefits.
Key Benefits at Every Level
- All Levels: Unlimited admission, RFID wristbands for each member, member events, gift shop discounts, guest passes
- Contributing Clubs: Priority seating, VIP invites, additional guest passes
- Legacy Societies: Behind-the-scenes tours, donor recognition, exclusive experiences
What counts toward my membership level?
We recognize your full support—including:
- One-time or recurring donations
- Campaign gifts
- Gala sponsorships and program support
- Matching gifts from your employer
Admission tickets, merchandise, and retail purchases do not apply.
CURRENT MEMBER INFORMATION
I am a current member. What happens to my benefits?
You will keep your current benefits through your existing membership term. When it is time to renew, you will have the opportunity to:
- Join a Classic Membership level at a set price, or
- Be placed into a new tier based on your annual giving
Our Development Team will personally contact you before your renewal date to help you identify your level of giving and navigate your options.
I want to join the Jefferson Club. What should I do?
The Jefferson Club is our featured membership group for emerging professionals who give $150-$269 annually. To join, please reach out to our Development Team (development@nmaam.org) directly.
This group receives tailored engagement opportunities, networking events, and behind-the-scenes access tied to music and culture.
GIVING OPTIONS & SUPPORT
Are there flexible giving options?
Yes. Monthly giving is encouraged and counts toward your annual contribution.
Examples:
- $12/month qualifies you for the Jefferson Club
- $46/month qualifies you for the Patron Club
- $125/month qualifies you for the Benefactor Club

Is there a dedicated parking facility for NMAAM visitors?
Yes. NMAAM visitors can conveniently park at the Fifth + Broadway garage located at 598 Broadway, directly beneath the museum.
What are the parking rates for NMAAM visitors?
Beginning April 1, 2025, NMAAM visitors will enjoy a simplified flat rate of $22 for museum visits and events. This special rate eliminates complicated validation processes and provides a straightforward parking experience.
How do I get the NMAAM visitor parking rate?
Park in the Fifth + Broadway garage at 598 Broadway

Who is eligible for the NMAAM visitor parking rate?
This special rate is exclusively for NMAAM visitors and must be validated on the day of your visit. The program applies to standard passenger vehicles only and is not applicable for NMAAM employees.
