On September 7, 2023, we unveiled The James Brown Exhibit in our Lobby Gallery to honor the late icon and his undeniable impact on music and culture. As the Godfather of Soul and the most sampled artist in Hip Hop history, James Brown’s influence continues to resonate across generations.
In collaboration with Primary Wave Music, and as part of our yearlong celebration of Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary, we curated this exhibit to showcase Brown’s iconic career. Through carefully selected objects, visitors experienced his musicianship, signature fashion, and dedication to social justice initiatives—elements that together define his enduring legacy.
We invited all our guests to explore and celebrate the artistry, energy, and cultural significance of James Brown, one of the most important figures in modern music history.
