MUSEUM PATHWAY

Begin your visit at the Roots Theater, where an immersive film lays the cultural and historical foundation of African American music. From there, follow the Rivers of Rhythm corridor—an interactive timeline that connects music with milestones in American history. Then, dive into the galleries in chronological order: experience spiritual uplift in Wade in the Water, feel the soul of the South in Crossroads, sway with the smooth sounds of A Love Supreme, groove through the evolution of R&B in One Nation Under a Groove, and finish with the powerful pulse of The Message—a celebration of hip hop’s enduring influence. This curated path builds rhythmically, offering a deeply moving, genre-spanning exploration of music, memory, and cultural legacy.
