Two Stories, One Journey: The Return of Rhythm & Whiskey

February 10, 2025

When exploring African American cultural excellence in Middle Tennessee, two destinations stand out: the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) and Nearest Green Distillery. In 2024, we bridged these cultural landmarks through our innovative Rhythm & Whiskey tour series, and we’re thrilled to announce its return for 2025.

The partnership’s impact was recently reinforced during a visit from Nearest Green Distillery’s Chief Marketing Officer, Brielle Caruso. During her first tour of NMAAM, Brielle was particularly moved by the Wade in the Water Gallery, where she learned about the Fisk Jubilee Singers’ pivotal role in Nashville earning its “Music City” moniker – a testament to the deep connections between African American history and Tennessee’s cultural identity.

“When we first presented this partnership concept to the leadership team at Nearest Green Distillery, they immediately recognized its potential,” shares Dexter Evans, Senior Advisor of Strategic Advancement at NMAAM. “Both institutions tell crucial stories of African American innovation and excellence – through music at NMAAM and through the legacy of Nathan ‘Nearest’ Green, the first known African American master distiller, at the distillery.”

Following a sold-out inaugural year, the Rhythm & Whiskey tour returns with dates throughout 2025:

Each tour offers a comprehensive cultural journey, beginning at NMAAM’s interactive galleries and continuing to Nearest Green Distillery’s historic grounds. The experience includes luxury transportation between venues, making it a seamless celebration of African American contributions to music and spirits.

With the support of industry leaders like Fawn Weaver, CEO of Uncle Nearest, and the entire Nearest Green team, this partnership continues to strengthen the bonds between two of Tennessee’s most significant cultural institutions.
