The National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and educating the world about the central role African Americans have played in shaping the American soundtrack. Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, NMAAM explores the history, influence, and global impact of Black music through immersive exhibitions, education, public programming, community engagement, and live music experiences.
Spanning generations and genres, NMAAM tells the stories of the artists, innovators, movements, and cultural moments that have shaped more than 50 genres and styles of music. Through its collections and programming, the Museum connects the past, present, and future of Black music while creating opportunities for discovery, dialogue, and celebration.
