MoreMember Spotlight celebrates the passionate individuals who make up the heart of the NMAAM community. Through their advocacy, generosity, and shared love of music, these members help amplify our mission to honor and preserve the legacy of African American music.
Meet the Caldwell family—Victor, Sharon, Victoria, and Ruby Camille—whose dedication to the National Museum of African American Music exemplifies the power of multi-generational support for preserving African American musical heritage.
Victor “VC” Caldwell brings unparalleled musical credibility to NMAAM’s community as a GRAMMY®-winning producer, jazz bassist, and acclaimed arranger. His impressive career includes producing for legendary artists like Whitney Houston, Take 6, BeBe & CeCe Winans, and Donnie McClurkin, with contributions to major film soundtracks including “The Bodyguard.” As part of Caldwell Plus Productions with his brother Cedric, VC has earned gold records and industry recognition while raising the standard of excellence in musical production. His 2020 debut album “Hide Me” and his second album, “Can God Trust You?” showcase his continued artistic evolution and commitment to meaningful music.
Dr. Sharon Moore-Caldwell holds both an M.D. and an M.Div. degree. As a physician and ordained minister, she brings deep expertise in community health and cultural wellness. As a Medical Director working in a population health model within Medicaid managed care, she focuses on improving outcomes for underserved communities. Her belief in music’s healing power aligns seamlessly with NMAAM’s mission.
The Caldwell daughters represent the next generation of engaged supporters. Victoria, a recent MBA graduate from Hampton University, has returned to Nashville with fresh perspectives on business and cultural entrepreneurship. Ruby Camille, an emerging singer-songwriter, embodies the continuing legacy of African American musical innovation that NMAAM celebrates and preserves. She has music on multiple streaming platforms, was featured on Kirk Whalum’s #LoveCovers project, has done background vocals for various artists, including CeCe Winans, and recently had a song released by Madison Ryann Ward.
During Black Music Month 2025, the Caldwells attended nearly every event, demonstrating their deep commitment to NMAAM’s programming. Their presence—from VC’s industry expertise to Ruby Camille’s artistic perspective to Victoria’s business acumen and Sharon’s community leadership—enriches our museum community.
The Caldwell family represents the beautiful intersection of professional achievement, artistic excellence, and cultural stewardship that makes NMAAM’s mission possible. Their support helps ensure that the stories and sounds of African American music continue to inspire and educate future generations.
Thank you, Caldwell family, for your enthusiastic support and for being such vibrant members of our NMAAM community.
