Become a member of the National Museum of African American Music!

A NMAAM membership offers special privileges throughout the entire year, including unlimited free admission, access to private exhibitions, customized tours, discounts at our Amplify gift shop, and much more. 

Your NMAAM membership expires one year from the end of the month in which you purchased it and does not automatically renew. Example: If you purchased on January 1, 2020, your expiration date would be January 31, 2021.

Individuals 65+

Student - $25

Available for individuals currently enrolled in high school, college, trade school, or university. Must present valid student ID.

FAQ

Can my guest(s) come to the National Museum of African American Music without a member present?

NMAAM members are welcome to bring guests. It will be $24.95 for adult non members, $13.50 for youth and $18.75 for Teachers and Seniors. Kids under 7 are free. Members can designate a friend, family member, colleague, or anyone else of their choosing as a secondary member on their membership. As a courtesy, we ask that at least one member be present for a guest to use a member’s benefits.

Is my membership transferable to another person or family?

Memberships are non-transferable and are only valid for the person(s) whose name(s) appear on the membership. However, members can use their guest passes to bring a friend or family member. Please plan to show your photo ID when checking in at the front desk.

How do I purchase a gift of membership?

To purchase a NMAAM membership as a gift, visit nmaam.org/membership. Specify whether you would like recipient's membership cards to be mailed to them, or to yourself. The membership is active upon purchase. You can also call 615.301.8724 to purchase a membership as a gift.

Is my membership gift tax deductible?

Yes, your membership has the potential for tax-deductibility. Due to the complexity of tax regulations, we recommend that you consult with your tax adviser if you have questions regarding your individual circumstances.

Is my membership refundable?

Memberships are non-refundable. Museum memberships are a tax-deductible gift; therefore, they are not refundable.
